* Question: What is a bible commentary?

What is freedom? "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32 (NIV)

Answer:  "A biblical commentary is a written systematic series of explanations and interpretations of Scripture. They are written by some of the most knowledgeable theologians in church history. Through a personal narrative, they provide deeper understanding and insight into the Bible, and can be valuable tools to assist both casual reading and serious study."

This answer is quoted from the denominationally independent resource that lets you choose from more than 90 Bible Commentaries that are now freely available online.  Just use the above link to StudyLight.org for your house church, personal study, sermon insights, Bible study, and even Sunday school preparation.  Help spread the Truth and the Word!

Do you really believe that what you believe is really real?

Do you believe in God, or do you believe God?

Do you belive in Jesus Christ, or do you belive Jesus Christ?

Do you really know Jesus Christ?

REVIVAL TIME?  IT STARTS IN YOUR HOME!
"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."  2 Chronicles 7:14
When people turn their backs on God's given rules, ask yourself, "Are they are on the path to wicked ways?"
One simple rule, "Do not covet." for example.  Celebrate what others have earned, not want to take it away from them for yourself.  If you might want it for yourself, you might be inclined to ignore another simple rule, "Do not lie."  Indeed, ask if you see evidence of this around you.  Inflated resumes, political promises, etc.  Worse yet, ask if that might lead to acceptance of stealing (taking from another what is theirs for yourself or to use for your intents), which is to ignore another simple rule, "Do not steal."  Of course, if your inclination is to covet the spouse of another, and you do not realize the folly of that mindset, the first three rules just discussed are meaningless to you, and you might want to ask, "Are my ways wicked?"  I do not intend to judge you with these questions, but just want you to think for yourself instead of letting others influence you and think for you.

Pray for wisdom from God, and as you seek it, consider this: The Holy Bible records His words through the prophets and his son, Jesus Christ.  so last question, "Have you actually read the entire Bible, from cover to cover?"  My last question of you, "Why not?"

AFTER MANY DECADES of interaction with people in many walks of life, the inspiration to spell out what seems to be the ranking of personal priorities that are at the root of personal choices led to the Shortest Sermon by John C. Randall.  Shared with many in his seminars, speeches, and personal communications, as well as on sister web sites to this one. the three boxes to the right are intended to make it easy for you to access the text, listen to the message in John's voice, or to download a printable PDF of the core message.  Some suggest the seven items are a good heading for your New Years Resolutions.  Enjoy and may the Lord bless you more each day than the day before.  John
